Welcome to Luxembourg Outdoors!

Moien!

Hey, I’m Jonny, and I’ve been exploring the hiking trails of Luxembourg and the greater region for over twenty years.

This website is my personal collection of favourite hikes from in and around the Grand Duchy, often accompanied by my family, a large flask of coffee and the boundless energy of my golden labrador.

Have fun in the woods!

Hiking Trails by Region

(For more trails by region, choose from the drop-down “Regions” menu)

Mullerthal

Auto-Pรฉdestre Fischbach

11km – Intermediate.

A peaceful woodland loop with a glorious hidden lake, typical Mullerthal rock formations, and a glimpse of the royal Chรขteau de Fischbach.

Mullerthal Trail Extra Tour C

10km โ€“ Easy / medium.

Farmland, forest, railway history and classic Mullerthal sandstone, all wrapped into one varied loop. Less drama than the headline “Mullerthal Trail” routes, but a more accessible half-day hike.

Minett

Minettswee Tรฉtange

10km โ€“ Easy / medium.

A high-quality Minett loop from Tรฉtange, mixing red earth paths, mining relics and quiet woodland. Surprisingly atmospheric, particularly the remarkable “Perchesbierg” section that reveals the raw drama of this regionโ€™s industrial landscape.

Minett Trail: Differdange – Belval-Rรฉdange

8km – Easy / medium

A quietly powerful walk through forest and former industry, where wildflowers bloom beside rusted relics and silence tells the story of a landscape slowly reclaiming itself.

Eislek

ER1 Erpeldange – Gateway to the Eislek

20km – Challenging.

A scenic and physically challenging trail with steep climbs, rocky viewpoints and tantalising glimpses of Bourscheid Castle. A taste of the Eislek.

Eislek Pad Heinerscheid

16km – Challenging.

A rugged forest loop above the Our Valley, where the steep gradients, fast-changing weather and ZERO phone signal certainly kept me on my toes. Quiet, remote, and at times unforgiving.

Schumannseck WWII Memorial Trail

3km โ€“ Easy.

A short, contemplative walk through a former battlefield near Wiltz, where life-sized wartime photographs merge hauntingly with the forest. Schumannseck is one of Luxembourgโ€™s most original and moving memorials, where history, nature and reflection meet in perfectโ€ฆ

Luxembourg City

Vauban Circular Walk, Luxembourg City: Through the Fortifications

5km – Easy / medium

Luxembourg Cityโ€™s Vauban Circular Walk is a loop through dramatic fortifications, past hidden towers and up to scenic viewpoints. Better than any museum or textbook it reveals, step-by-step, how Luxembourg was a city built toโ€ฆ

Guttland

Auto-Pรฉdestre Hobscheid

9.5km – Easy / medium.

The forest around Hobscheid is pleasant enough, but really this trail is all about THAT tunnel. Damp, dimly lit, arrow-straight and highly atmospheric, it stretches for almost 700m towards a pinprick of light in theโ€ฆ

Guttland Trail Biisser Weier

Easy / medium – 9km.

A gentle woodland loop near Bissen linking deep, quiet woodland with tranquil ponds. Family-friendly, easy going underfoot, and ideal for switching off and enjoying the softer side of Luxembourg.

Auto-Pรฉdestre Mertzig – Turelbaach Castle

9km – Easy / medium.

The newest Auto-Pรฉdestre trail is a gentle countryside loop crowned by one of Luxembourgโ€™s most curious landmarks: the water-ringed turrets of the Chรขteau de Turelbaach.

Moselle / Saar

Haff Rรฉimech Nature Discovery Trail

5km – Easy

A stroller-friendly circuit where birdwatchers and curious kids alike will find plenty to enjoy. Donโ€™t miss the striking Biodiversum centre, which brings the wetlandsโ€™ story to life.

Kasteler Felsenpfad

9km – Intermediate

The “Traumschleife” Kasteler Felsenpfad trail, only 45 minutes from Luxembourg City, showcases stunning rock formations, sublime views and historical Roman sites.

Traumschleife Palmberg Ahn

10km – Intermediate

One of Luxembourg’s most famous Moselle Valley hiking trails. Dreamy vineyards, spectacular views and spiced up with some surprisingly challenging sections: this hike has it all!
