A roundup of my favourite hikes from 2025. From crowd-pleasers to lesser-known gems, from romantic castles to stunning ridges, this selection of trails has something for everyone who loves hiking.
Beaufort B7 – Scenery and Solitude
12km - Intermediate. A varied loop from Beaufort Castle blending solitude and scenery: deep, silent woods, a hidden WWII chapel, the peaceful Hallerbaach and the wilder Haupeschbaach.
Auto-Pédestre Larochette
7 km – Intermediate. A varied loop around Larochette with 360° views of its château. The Himmelberg and Verluerekascht viewpoints steal the show, offering magnificent castle panoramas that are especially striking at sunset.
Auto-Pédestre Consdorf
10km – Intermediate. A Mullerthal classic linking Consdorf with the Schiessentümpel waterfall. Ten kilometres of rocky forest paths and sandstone cliffs make this one of Luxembourg’s favourite hikes, challenging in places but unforgettable from start to finish.
Berdorf B8 Trail
12km - Intermediate. Grandiose Mullerthal scenery without the crowds. The B8 starts with spectacular cliffs and rock formations before quietening into woodland and farmland. Not Berdorf’s top trail, but a good alternative for those seeking a calmer Mullerthal hike.
Auto-Pédestre Grundhof
11km – Intermediate. A varied loop above the Sauer river, combining forest trails, sweeping viewpoints and a unique stretch of hidden WWII history. A rewarding way to explore one of the prettiest bends in the valley.
C2 Consdorf – Adventure Kuelscheier
5km – Easy / medium. A short and thrilling trail near Consdorf, packed with mossy boulders, towering rock formations, and the unforgettable Kuelscheier cave. Ideal for adventurous families or anyone keen to sample the Mullerthal in under two hours.
Echternach E1 – The Mullerthal Classic
14 km - Intermediate A showstopper of a trail from Luxembourg’s oldest city into the region’s wildest corners: dramatic gorges, high viewpoints, cave lookouts... and a stream that flows uphill? Crowds? Quite possibly. Worth it? Absolutely.
Auto-Pédestre Scheidgen
9km – Easy / medium. A peaceful loop through classic Mullerthal scenery: mossy rocks, hidden valleys, and gentle forest paths. Despite tracing the Mullerthal Trail, it remains blissfully uncrowded. One to savour.
