6km - Intermediate (rocky). One of the Mullerthal’s best shorter hikes: a compact sandstone adventure direct from Nommerlayen campsite, with rocky labyrinths, serene woodland, and the superb Kauzelee rock formation.
10km - Intermediate. A surprisingly varied four-hill challenge through the Minett, mixing woodland climbs, urban interludes and wide views over Esch/Belval and Differdange.
11km - Intermediate. A peaceful woodland loop with a glorious hidden lake, typical Mullerthal rock formations, and a glimpse of the royal Château de Fischbach.
Five rewarding alternatives to the crowded Schiessentümpel, from dark cave adventures to castle views and tranquil forest loops. More of the Mullerthal, less of the crowds.
7 km – Intermediate. A varied loop around Larochette with 360° views of its château. The Himmelberg and Verluerekascht viewpoints steal the show, offering magnificent castle panoramas that are especially striking at sunset.
9km - Easy / medium. The newest Auto-Pédestre trail is a gentle countryside loop crowned by one of Luxembourg’s most curious landmarks: the water-ringed turrets of the Château de Turelbaach.
10km – Intermediate. A Mullerthal classic linking Consdorf with the Schiessentümpel waterfall. Ten kilometres of rocky forest paths and sandstone cliffs make this one of Luxembourg’s favourite hikes, challenging in places but unforgettable from start to finish.
The new 2025 Auto-Pédestre guide gives Luxembourg’s classic trails a modern refresh, adding regional gems to revamped existing AP trails. With 202(!) routes to choose from, here are five of my personal favourites.
11km – Intermediate. A varied loop above the Sauer river, combining forest trails, sweeping viewpoints and a unique stretch of hidden WWII history. A rewarding way to explore one of the prettiest bends in the valley.
13km - Intermediate A scenic circular route linking the Grand Château d’Ansembourg with the fortress of Hollenfels, A quiet, more rewarding alternative to the official "Auto-Pédestre" trail.
